The Sacramento Kings recently worked out 22-year-old forward and mental health advocate Royce White and are likely to sign him to a 10-day contract, two people with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports.

The people spoke on the condition of anonymity because no deal had yet been finalized.

White was drafted 16th overall by the Houston Rockets out of the University of Minnesota in 2012, but he struggled to adjust to the NBA lifestyle, in part, because of the well-chronicled anxiety disorder from which he suffers.

White had a public and often-contentious back and forth with Rockets officials regarding the support system, or lack thereof in his opinion, that he deemed necessary to thrive in the professional ranks.

He was traded from the Rockets to the Philadelphia 76ers in Aug. 2013, but - as was the case with the Rockets - never played in an NBA before getting cut three months later. White has played in 17 games for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League, averaging 11.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists. The Houston Chronicle first reported that the Kings had held a workout for White.

GameStop UK cuts price on Xbox One Titanfall bundle

GameStop UK is currently accepting preorders for the Xbox One Titanfall bundle for £370, or a full £30 below the bundle's £400 price point. That discount is on top of the £30 price cut Microsoft announced yesterday, which will see the console officially drop from £430 to £400 effective Friday, February 28.

It's one of the Deal Of The Day deals we've seen so far on the Xbox One. Of course, it's only valid in the UK, but GameStop stores in the United States are offering a promotion of their own for the Xbox One Titanfall bundle.

GameStop UK's £370 Titanfall Xbox One bundle offer includes a black console, digital copy of the game, Kinect, a standard Xbox One controller ( not the special-edition one), a chat headset, and one-month Xbox Live Gold membership--which you'll need to play the game.

The Titanfall Xbox One bundle will be available in North America alongside the game on March 11, followed by a March 14 release in Europe.

Music, food and fun to mark Chinese New Year

NEW Year has been celebrated in style by the chinese nice chinese new year cards community of St John's Church in Whitehaven.

The Hensingham church played host to a well-attended gathering that featured food, the popping of red balloons and traditional Chinese music.

Organiser Jema Chan said: "I put on this event because most of the Chinese people in Copeland are living here as immigrants and are very hard working.

"They work long hours and some of them can't speak English fluently so I thought it was a great opportunity to get them all together.

"As someone who is quite integrated into the English community, I wanted to put on the event so that they be surrounded by Chinese culture."

The music was performed by St Bees School pupils Gordon Huang, who played classic guitar, and Margherita Li on the gu zheng - a Chinese horizontal harp.

"It can be quite lonely for some of them and this gives them a social opportunity," Jema added.

"Lots of them say to me that they didn't realise how many other Chinese people there are in the area which is great because they get to meet new people.

"Everyone brings some food, we share it out and then we listen to performances from some Chinese St Bees students."

Everyone who attended the event is a member of the Chinese fellowship at St John's Church.

Jema said: "As well as getting everyone together for Chinese New Year, it is also to open everyone up to God and welcome Him into their lives for the New Year."

CREATIVE children designed and presented cards to international students at St Bees School in celebration of Chinese New Year.

The youngsters in Prep 3 were helped by sixth form pupil Amy Martin to make the cards as part of an art project. They also learned how to write in Chinese and make origami.

Cheapskates Lindsay Lohan, Neil Patrick Harris Get $10 Every Time You Use Their Uber Promo Codes

We at Betabeat are avid followers of Lindsay Lohan's Twitter feed. After all, you never know what you might find there.

So when we saw a LiLo tweet promoting taxicab disrupter Uber's services and offering a promo code, we just had to know: was this the result of an official partnership between the startup and the star, or was Lindsay up to something shady?

It turns out the latter is true - and Ms. Lohan isn't the only celebrity pimping out Uber to her followers so that she can get discounts on the rides herself. Neil Patrick Harris and Snoop Dogg (or Lion or Walrus or whatever he's going by now) are guilty, too.

An Uber rep told us the partnerships weren't official endorsements and that the stars' choices to tweet the codes were "organic." Every Uber user has the privilege of sharing their code in an effort to collect discounts. Each time someone uses your Uber code, you get $10 to use on future rides yourself. This month, a special is running so the person who owns the code gets $20.

What's shady is that the codes only work the first time the fan uses Uber - so Lindsay Lohan is getting a $20 credit because your friend used her code, when you could have been the one to get it.

You know how whenever your aunt goes to a new hair salon, she bugs you to go get your hair cut there so that she'll get $5 off her next '80s perm? Linds, NPH and Snoop are all being that annoying aunt right now and hogging all the discounts for their rich, famous asses.

Furthermore, Uber told us there's no limit to how many times one person's promo code can be used. Lindsay Lohan has 7.6 million followers. She's probably got free Uber rides lined up until 2026 at this point.

Here's a look at some of the tweets the celebs have pushed. Snoop's code is UncleSnoopATL, basically the vanity license plate equivalent of an Uber coupon, which doesn't seem that "organic":

And Neil Patrick Harris has used his code under the guise of preventing drunk driving, when he was directly cashing out on it. Ew.

This also explains why people are spending time to defraud Tinder users in an effort to get them to use an Uber promo code. Whoever was behind that fake Uber ad stood to make a lot of money in Uber credits off of Tinder users.

We asked Uber a bunch of followup questions about the stars seemingly abusing the system, and whether this was their intent when they created the Amazon Sales. We noted that the system is probably very effective at getting the app onto users' phones.

"We're happy to see that all kinds of people, including celebrities, are excited about our superior service and want to share their Uber love with friends," Uber rep Andrew Noyes told us.

Of course, it's not morally wrong for these stars to exploit Uber's promo code system by profiting off of their huge fan bases. But they're taking discounts away from normal people, plus it's just trashy - especially if they're pretending to do it just because they're concerned about drunk driving, as Mr. Harris did.

No matter how hard your last movie flopped, this isn't a good look. Celebrities should let us plebes wallow in the first‐time‐user discount game while they stick to shilling Vitamin Water.

Police: Boscov's worker gave herself huge discount

A Wilkes-Barre woman who worked at Boscov's is accused of giving herself a huge Amazon Deal.

Police say Angela M. Murphy of South Grant Street was an employee of Boscov's between Dec. 21 and Wednesday, when she bought $1,068 in merchandise.

But Murphy gave herself a 90 percent discount and only paid $136, according to police.

The retailer at 15 S. Main St. reported the theft about 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police say Murphy is facing a charge of theft by deception.
